About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor and holistic therapist.  My gentle and compassionate approach helps support adults and young people to explore internal experiences and overcome challenges. I believe in creating a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. It is crucial for yourself, the client, and me, the counsellor to understand each other for an effective outcome. Understanding, built on trust and collaboration, is the foundation of a strong therapeutic alliance. Having worked with clients for many years, building strong interpersonal relationships is certainly an area in which I shine.

I work in a somatic and holistic way.  What this means is that I believe ‘The mind and body are not separate, what effects one, effects the other’. Treating the whole of you. I also believe in the pluralistic approach. Meaning each client is unique and therefore may need different things from therapy. My genuine and therapeutic approach prioritises your understanding, needs and experience, focusing on your self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-esteem. Improving your happiness, health and wellbeing.

I am extremely passionate about my work, having worked as a practitioner in the health and wellbeing industry for over 30 years.  I have a wealth of experience working with both adults and young people, also delivering and carrying out relaxation treatments and therapies to young people and students with special educational needs, complex social, emotional and mental health needs. I am a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher, (MBSR) and a Youth Mindfulness and Massage in Schools Instructor. I have gained experience working as a volunteer at a mental health charity based in Calderdale. I have always had an interest and a care for people, particularly around the health and wellbeing of individuals. I enjoy supporting people with a range of experiences. As a holistic therapist I believe in the healing power of nature. Spending time with nature, I believe may be helpful in soothing and grounding your senses, offering a little more balance, so walking and talking therapies are an area I feel can be beneficial for some clients.
