About Me

Hi, I’m Gail, a warm hearted, down-to-earth person-centred counsellor, clinical supervisor, tutor, coach and holistic practitioner.

Life can be complex and challenging at times, and I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help from someone you don’t know. That’s why I offer a free initial consultation, so we can say hello before making any decision to work together

My aim is to offer a safe and welcoming space for you to openly explore your thoughts and feelings, without judgement.

Through previous work roles, particularly in workforce development, skills and employability and coaching, I came to realise that my passion is working with people, supporting their growth and development.

This insight prompted me to retrain as a counsellor, a path that complemented my existing coaching skills and enabled me to return to what I valued most: building meaningful connections with people and supporting their personal development.

Since then, I have undertaken additional qualifications, to support my Counselling and Coaching offer, including Counselling Supervision and Reiki Practitioner.

Across these disciplines, I work primarily in a Person-Centred way, and my core beliefs centre on the idea that every individual possesses the innate capacity to grow, develop, and change, that everyone should have the chance to become the best version of themselves possible.

I also recognise that this journey is seldom straightforward. Life often presents us with complex and challenging issues that we must navigate before growth can take place.

There may be occasions when the process feels difficult. During these times, I might gently challenge certain beliefs or perceptions that have developed over many years. This will always be approached with empathy and understanding, with the intention of empowering you to make decisions about your own future.

For this reason, I believe it is essential to have a supportive environment, a space where you feel secure enough to openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. It is important to have someone you trust, who will listen without judgement, and who can offer understanding as you work through your difficulties. I aim to provide this for you.

I have previously worked for several charities across West Yorkshire, supporting clients facing a range of challenges and am a tutor at a local college, where I teach a variety of counselling courses.

My professional experience also includes coaching staff at different levels within organisations, helping them to achieve their goals both in a business context and on a personal level. I am skilled in designing and delivering workshops and training programmes, working with local businesses to create bespoke solutions that address their specific needs.

What can I help with:

I am a Registered Member with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I work in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework, ensuring high standards of professional practice. As a qualified coach, I am also affiliated with the BACP’s Coaching Division.

Counselling

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to:

Supervision

I am a qualified clinical supervisor, working with the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision to support supervisees and their client work.

My overall approach and training are primarily Person-Centred, and this is the modality I teach at college, however as a qualified Coach / Mentor and Tutor, I am also able to offer a broad range of support, drawing on all these areas to find what suits each supervisee best.

As a tutor, I understand the costs involved with training and so am happy to offer a discount to counselling students whilst in training.

Coaching

Sometimes it is easy setting a goal but can be difficult knowing how to achieve it. This is where coaching can be invaluable.

As your coach, I will use guided conversation and effective questioning, along with some practical interventions, to support you in unlocking your own capabilities and finding your own ideas and solutions to achieve the goals you have set.

Coaching may be useful for a variety of personal and professional issues, examples include:

  • Confidence building, Self-limiting beliefs, Goal setting and achievement, Public speaking, Assertiveness, etc

Training

Alongside tutoring, I also deliver bespoke workshops and training to support people development within the workplace, including areas such as,

Reiki (Usui)

Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive, hands-on holistic therapy for balancing and healing all aspects of a person, using spiritual energy.

Originating from Japan, there are several forms of Reiki, my training is in Usui Reiki, which is the most common type used in the West and was developed by a Japanese Buddhist priest, Dr Mikao Usui.
