Hello there! I’m Maegan and I am a fully qualified, BACP registered therapist with a specialisation in supporting individuals who are navigating the complexities and challenges of life. My approach is genuine, straightforward, no nonsense and grounded in a deep understanding of human psychology. I am also fiercely compassionate and work in a very relational way, meaning, I prioritise our connection and shared humanity to create an environment where you feel respected, heard and supported. I offer a considerate, non-judgemental space where we can work together to better understand your experiences, overcome challenges and create meaningful, lasting change in your life.
My personal and professional history is rich and diverse and because of this I have been privileged to a wide range of human connections and experiences and therefore, I understand and appreciate the value and significance of our individuality and uniqueness. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the Person-Centred philosophy, which means I believe that we are all our own experts, and we all have unique needs, values and perceptions which curate our individual lived experience.
However, on occasion – we can become stuck, and things may feel clouded, prickly or difficult, resulting in the need of support. Therefore, our sessions will provide a respectful, safe and confidential space to unpick the issues you bring. With my support, we’ll tap into your inner-self and explore your personal feelings, beliefs and behaviours – hopefully resulting in your empowerment to facilitate positive personal change and improved outcomes- by finding your intrinsic intrinsic strength and capacity for growth.
Having worked in education for many years, dedicating myself to young people and those with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and other neurodiverse diagnoses such as ADHD/ADD, I have an enhanced understanding of the specific challenges that these bring in a neuro typical world and consider myself to be fully neuroinclusive. Areas I can be of help in supporting are emotional regulation, social communication, relationships and self-acceptance.
Another specialism and areas of focus and interest are life transitions (and all that this means). These periods of significant, life change – whether physical, emotional or even more existential- can require major adjustments, and as a result, can sometimes feel overwhelming and insurmountable. However, with support and a deeper understanding, together we can identify your vision and purpose and face the challenges and fears, allowing for new beginnings. Various life transitions may include developmental changes – such as entering early adulthood, parenthood (i.e. Matrescence), Mid-life or Menopause. They may also include more lived experience transitions such as job loss, relocation, divorce or changing family dynamics, retirement, or loss and bereavement.
Anything you feel important or impactful – we can explore together, at your pace working toward your sought outcomes and goals. Remember – this is your story, your narrative.
Our initial consultation will be a 15 -20-minute, free phone conversation, to assess if we are the right fit for one another. Moving forward, we will then schedule regular sessions to meet face to face or online via TEAMS. I am confident that by the end of our first session – we will have developed a sense of one another, and we will have embarked on our relational voyage together. Authenticity, warmth and kindness are just some of what you can expect from me. Together we will share space, and you are brave and willing to share – with me being there with you. We will talk; I will listen – we may share tears or even laughter. Nevertheless, I will be present, alongside you – until we reach your destination. I look forward to our meeting.
