Hi, I am Maxine, a qualified Person Centered Counsellor, and a huge people person by nature.
At times life can challenge us in ways we never expected, and we can find ourselves feeling overloaded, lost and sometimes very alone. This load can become increasingly heavy making it difficult to share, with even our most trusted and loved ones. And this is where I hope I can be of help to you in those dark moments.
We are all individuals with our own unique way of viewing and experiencing life. I will endeavour to walk alongside you and view your world through your eyes and from your perspective. In doing so, this will offer me insight where hopefully I will begin to really sense and understand you enough to be able to support you in unpacking that load. To be listened to and truly heard rarely happens but when it does, it can have a profound impact in offering clarity, to what may have felt to be a hopeless and debilitating state.
If you’re reading this, then you’ve been brave enough to reach out, even though you might not have a clue why you’re feeling or thinking the way you are! But guess what ? … It’s totally okay to NOT feel okay and it’s totally okay to feel lost or confused or sad, or just down right fed up with it all… but..should you choose to work with me, I will offer a safe and accepting confidential space to gently explore your thoughts and feelings….it might be confronting and challenging at times, but I will be right by side.
My aim is always to build trust and respect within counselling sessions, so that hopefully you will feel able to share what may have brought you to counselling. I am not here to offer advice, direction or pass judgement, but instead to have the opportunity to assist you in finding clarity, and in doing so, join you in discovering your own exceptional pathway to self empowerment.
Reaching out for help, and then finding the right person can feel frightening, but at the same time it could prove extremely liberating. So don’t be afraid to make that initial contact with me, with no obligation, and let’s discover if we can work together.
I have spent a number of years working as a Listening Volunteer with The Samaritans, both on the phone and face to face. My experience has covered a diverse range of – ages, genders, ethnicities and social classes, including prisoners – dealing with issues such as sadness and isolation, through to suicidal thoughts and plans. Each shift presents a different perspective from each caller which has broadened my insight and growth into behaviours tremendously. I have also volunteered for a mental health charity, which too, has covered a broad scope of presenting issues around clients.
